Your personal sphere of play:

As a University Assistant you will complement the research at Chair of Central European History. Our research focuses on the period from the nineteenth century up until recent contemporary history.
The postdoc position will be for a maximum of six years, the preferred starting date would be September 1, 2025.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

•    You will be involved in research projects and scientific studies.
•    You prepare and complete a second book which you could submit as a habilitation. Please submit a first draft of your postdoc project
•    You will independently teach courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement, conduct examinations and supervise students.
•    You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching.
•    You will take part in the organisation of meetings, conferences and symposia.
•    We encourage you to cooperate with the Research Center for the History of Transformations and other university departments
•    We encourage you to apply for third-party funded research projects.

This is part of your personality: 

•    Completed doctoral/PhD studies in history or historical sociology
•    Good oral and written communication skills
•    Very good written and spoken English skills
•    Excellent active and passive skills in at least one Eastern European language. It would be desirable to know an East Asian language as well.
•    Interest in comparative history and other relational approaches
•    IT user skills
•    Experience in the organization of scientific workshops and conferences, and conveying their contents to the public (third mission), social media skills
•    You are a team player with high social/communicative skills and media competences.
•    Teaching experience/experience with e-learning is desirable - Knowledge of university processes and structures - Experience abroad
