The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Vienna (IQOQI-Vienna) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), Austria`s leading non- university research and science institution, is offering a

(full-time, 40h per week)

in the Quantum Foundations and Quantum Information Theory research group led by Dr. Miguel Navascués. The group of Miguel Navascués at the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) Vienna is hiring a postdoctoral research assistant for two years. The successful candidate will work on a QuantA-funded project at the intersection of quantum information science and algebraic quantum field theory. We are looking for a creative, mathematically talented researcher, preferably with a PhD in AQFT. The starting date is as soon as possible.

Miguel Navascués’ group carries out research in quantum information theory, the foundations of physics and noncommutative optimization. The group’s recent achievements include the invention and subsequent implementation of “universal rewinding machines”, which make uncontrolled physical systems leap to past quantum states, the design of the experiment that falsified real-number quantum theory, and a general method to solve the quantum marginal problem based on the notion of renormalization flow.

Inaugurated in 2003 to lead the study of quantum phenomena, IQOQI Vienna is a member institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Its headquarters are located in the heart of Vienna, a capital city that consistently appears first in international rankings of quality of life.
