Tasks:
- The TU Wien is in the process of improving its ability to leverage data for insights into its performance and embedding in the international research environment. A part of this data includes documents in various formats, as well as structured datasets, all including information on relationships between institutions and other relevant metadata. The successful candidate will contribute to this process by carrying out the following tasks:
- Assisting in the Development and evaluation of approaches to extract information from structured and unstructured data
- Support in the analysis of the extracted data to obtain relevant insights
- Assisting in the regular consultation with and presentation of results to stakeholders
- Support of the development of prototypes demonstrating the most successful approaches
- The development can include, but is not limited to, the use Large Language Models and Natural Language Processing technologies and techniques
- It is possible to carry out research toward a master’s thesis as part of this employment

Description of the position:
- Support the head of ELIXIR AT and the associated leadership group with planning and implementation of activities in the Austrian node
- Contribute to initiating and facilitating collaboration within the development of infrastructure between the partner institutions
- Coordinate communication and cooperation within ELIXIR AT and with ELIXIR's Hub and other ELIXIR nodes

About the team:
The research group Scientific Computing, led by Prof. Siegfried Benkner, focuses on research in programming paradigms, languages, compilers, and software and hardware infrastructures for scientific computing to support users in the process of solving increasingly complex compute- and data-intensive problems in science and engineering on high-end parallel and distributed computing platforms. The selected candidate will participate in an international and interdisciplinary research project under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Atakan Aral. The project aims to ensure seamless and reliable monitoring of critical infrastructures (e.g., facilities for water supply and electricity generation) through real-time and distributed processing of IoT sensor data. The project team will include doctoral and master’s students in our group, as well as international partners from the University of Sheffield, UK, and University College Dublin, Ireland.
