The successful candidate should have a strong cultural studies profile, a pronounced openness to interdisciplinary dialogue, team research and a willingness to actively contribute to shaping the research agenda of both the research area and the IKW.

Your Tasks
- Conduct research as (part of) your doctoral dissertation
- Present research results at workshops and international conferences, and publish your work
- Enroll as a PhD student at the University of Vienna. (Applicants are advised to familiarize themselves with the enrollment procedures at the University as well as eventual course and language requirements.)

- Performing research along the research lines of the group
- Writing and submitting scientific articles summarizing your findings
- Supporting the group leader in writing project proposals

Your Tasks
- Managing the pottery recording on-site (field lab, museums’ depot)
- Coordination of technicians, students and volunteers in the labs; managing the analytical program by supporting the preparation of samples
- Lab work at the OeAI Vienna for data management (project database), analyses and interpretation
- Preparation of basic pottery publication (catalogue, meta data, tables, statistics)

- PhD in Demography, Social Sciences, Statistics, Economics, or other relevant fields
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

- To conduct independent and innovative research on Buddhism in Japan – its doctrines, practices and/or institutions –, with research questions in the history of religion, cultural history, the history of philosophy and/or intellectual history (any of these perspectives is welcome)
- To actively apply for competitive third party-funded projects supporting junior scholars and engage in mentoring activities
- To provide expertise in support of other research projects at the Institute;
- To contribute to the development of the Institute’s publication series
- To engage in comparative and/or transcultural research within the Cluster of Excellence “EurAsian Transformations“
- To participate in the (co-)organization of academic events at the Institute, and in various activities within the Cluster of Excellence “EurAsian Transformations“, including public outreach activities

Your Tasks
- Coordination and networking of linguistic sub-projects and satellite projects within DynAT
- Research on language dynamics in the Austrian context
- Corpus-linguistic and lexicographic processing and analysis of language data and language corpora held at the Institute
- Contribution to the preparation and submission of project proposals in the context of language variation and language change research
- Collaboration within the “Linguistics” research department at the ACDH
