- Sie unterstützen die Wissenschaftler*innen der Aerosolgruppe beim Aufbau, der Wartung, Fehlersuche und Reparatur von elektrischen/elektronischen Komponenten, Geräten und Messinstrumenten
- Sie entwickeln unsere Mikrocontroller-Steuerungen weiter und entwerfen zusammen mit Wissenschaftler*innen neue Systeme zur Steuerung und Datenerfassung einschließlich Design und Bestückung von Leiterplatten
- Sie legen Stromversorgungen aus und verkabeln Geräte und Sensoren, sie wählen dafür geeignete Bauteile aus und übernehmen deren Bestellung
- Sie unterstützen die Aerosolgruppe bei EDV-Aufgaben
- Während mehrwöchiger Messkampagnen mit Forschungsflugzeugen im In- und Ausland – in Zusammenarbeit mit internationalen Partnern – unterstützen Sie bei der Betreuung der Messgeräte und der Datenerhebung
- Sie unterstützen den laufenden Betrieb des Labors (Kalibrierung, Wartung und Ersatzteilmanagement/Bestellungen)
- Sie erstellen und pflegen technische Dokumentation

Your Tasks
- PhD in applied mathematics or similar.
- Strong background in the numerical solution of nonlinear systems arising in continuum mechanics, electromagnetics, and related applications in physics and engineering.
- Expertise in the development and analysis of finite element methods, differential geometry, error estimation, numerical methods for nonlinear systems, optimization algorithms.
- English skills are required.

- Design of the electronics system for the ALICE Outer Tracker readout system, including front-end ASIC chip design in 65nm technology, and back-end electronics based on the FELIX platform
- Further tasks may include verification and characterization of prototypes in lab tests and particle beam experiments

- Positronium chemistry studiesSimulate, construct & perform novel experiments to measure the propeties of positronium compounds, such as positronium hydride.Develop new experiments with positronium and positronium compounds.Upgrade and maintain the Vienna positron beamline used for these experiments.
- ASACUSA antihydrogen experiment
- Participate in antiproton beamtime at CERN to improve the ASACUSA collaboration’s antihydrogen beam. This involves optimisation of cold antimatter plasmas and the interactions of the produced antihydrogen within the plasma and subsequent spectroscopy apparatus.Upgrade and maintain the CERN positron beamline to ensure a constant supply of positrons to the experiment.

- Teach PhD and Masters students within the group.
