The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.

Your personal sphere of influence:

As an assistant to Prof. Assaf Pinkus, you will contribute to the project “The Dynamics of Change: The Sculptural Oeuvre of St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna,” which examines the cathedral’s sculptural embellishment from the 13th and 15th centuries in relation to its architectural setting, use, and function within performative and spatial contexts, as an evolving, accumulative ensemble.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

• They are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the field of “The Dynamics of Change: The Sculptural Oeuvre of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna”.
• We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
• You work on your dissertation and its completion.
• You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
• You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

This is part of your personality:

• Completed Master's degree or Diploma (master’s degree by September 1st), in the field Art History
• Basic experience in academic writing and with research methods 
• Didactic competences / experience with e-learning
• Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level), Knowledge of other foreign languages: German desirable, Italian, French, Czech is an advantage
• IT user skills
• The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong engagement with material culture, experience of medieval art, visual analysis, and the religious, historical, and cultural contexts of medieval figuration. Interdisciplinary approaches are particularly welcome.
• You should be a team player with high social skills
