Your Tasks
We are seeking a new Director who will complement and further enhance the institute’s outstanding research profile by supporting interdisciplinarity. The successful candidate will bring expertise primarily in the history of the early modern Habsburg Monarchy in its Central European context.

Your Tasks
- Conduct independent research on the scholastic traditions of Tibetan Buddhism based on original language sources in Tibetan. The focus should be in the area of scholastic networks and/or specific tools and themes in scholastic literature. Consideration of the formative phase of Tibetan scholasticism is required in the first phase of employment (until 30.06.2026).
- Participate in data management of TibSchol prosopographical database and digital library
- Publish at the highest scientific level and present research findings at academic events
- Participate in the institute's activities by (co-)organizing academic events

- You develop an independent research profile in the field of Cultural and Intellectual History of Premodern South Asia.
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the field of Premodern South Asia (Indology) at the Department.
- You publish in internationally recognised peer-reviewed publication venues, give lectures and organise scientific events.
- You prepare and complete a publication-ready habilitation.
- You hold courses independently in the Bachelor programme „Languages and Cultures of South Asia and Tibet” and the Master programme “Languages and Cultures of South Asia” within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You supervise your students.
- You support scientific publication and database projects at the institute.
- You apply for third-party funded projects and/or support their application.
- You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and departmental administration.

Ihr Tätigkeitsbereich:
- Sie bauen ein selbständiges Forschungsprofil im Bereich der Kultur- und Geistesgeschichte des vormodernen Südasien auf.
- Sie wirken in Forschungsprojekten und bei wissenschaftlichen Studien im Bereich des vormodernen Südasien (Indologie) am Institut mit.
- Sie publizieren in international sichtbaren peer-reviewed Publikationsorganen, treten als Vortragende/r auf und organisieren fachwissenschaftliche Veranstaltungen.
- Sie bereiten eine publikationsreife Habilitation vor und stellen diese fertig.
- Sie halten selbständig Lehrveranstaltungen im Bachelorprogramm „Sprachen und Kulturen Südasiens und Tibets” sowie im Masterprogramm „Sprachen und Kulturen Südasiens“ in den Gebieten Sprache, Geschichte, Literatur und Religion des vormodernen Südasien ab (im Ausmaß der kollektivvertraglichen Bestimmungen).
- Sie betreuen Ihre Studierenden.
- Sie unterstützen wissenschaftliche Publikations- und Datenbankprojekte des Instituts.
- Sie beantragen Drittmittelprojekte und/oder unterstützen die Beantragung.
- Sie wirken an Evaluierungsmaßnahmen und in der Qualitätssicherung mit.
- Sie übernehmen Tätigkeiten in der Forschungs-, Lehr- und Institutsadministration.
