In addition to providing a solid academic education, we also place a special emphasis on the personal development of students. Your workplace:
The History Study Programme Management at the Faculty of History and Cultural Studies covers five institutes and offers two bachelor's and six master's programmes. It has approximately 5,000 students.
As a senior lecturer, you will be involved in teaching on the History study programme. The full-time position involves an average of 14 hours of academic teaching per week. If your performance is evaluated positively at the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, the position will be converted to a permanent position by mutual agreement.
Your future tasks:
You will teach 14 SWS per semester, with a focus on the bachelor's level of the BA History and BEd History and Political Education programmes. The teaching portfolio also includes courses in the introductory and orientation phase (StEOP). If required, you may also be assigned courses at the master's level. You will be expected to keep up to date with the latest developments in the field, undertake further training in teaching methods and carry out research tasks during the lecture-free period. In addition, you will be required to perform administrative tasks, particularly in the area of teaching administration. You must be willing to contribute to the further development of teaching in the field of history, for example through the use of AI or the implementation of new curricula. Depending on requirements, the teaching duties will focus on the following areas:
• Austrian history in a European and global context;
• Sources and methods of historical studies
• Historical research and writing
• Conducting courses with integrated examinations (guided readings, proseminars, seminars)
What we expect:
Excellent knowledge of German
Academic qualification in the form of a completed doctorate in the field of Austrian history of the late Middle Ages or early modern period.
Ability to explain fundamental political, social and economic processes of change.
Relevant academic publications, broad teaching experience in tertiary education.
