- Prepare a highly original and internationally competitive PhD thesis in your designated field.
- Publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and present your research at international conferences.
- Design and teach university courses and supervise students according to the requirements specified in the collective agreement for predoctoral researchers.
- Complete the public presentation of your PhD thesis within one year of your contract starting date.

Your Tasks
- PhD in a field related to animal cognition.
- Prior experience working and publishing both bioacoustic and animal behaviour/cognition research.
- Prior experience training animals in a lab setting would be ideal.
- Comfortable handling animals. Prior experience, especially with small birds, would be ideal.
- Strong written and oral English.
- The candidate should be able to integrate into a multi-disciplinary research team.

Areas of work:
- Writing a dissertation
- Submitting a dissertation agreement (outline) within 12-18 months of project start
- Contribution to scientific studies and international publications
- Conference travel to present (PhD) research
- Travel to field studies (as part of the disaster task force)
- Involvement in international collaborations
- Support in acquiring third-party funded projects
- Involvement in / Independent teaching based on the collective bargaining agreement
- Support in Bachelor’s and Master’s student supervision and examination activities
- Participation in evaluation activities and in quality assurance
- Integration into the research group and participation in administrative duties

Long Description

Management of the RG Neuroinformatics software toolboxes (version control and release management, code quality and maintenance, bug fixing, testing and quality assurance, documentation maintenance, support and training) -
Procurement and replenishment of hardware and software -
Installation and support of hardware and software equipment, in particular PC workstations, printers, etc. -
First-level support -
Support in conducting experimental studies -
Maintenance of the internet presence -
Network administration
