Your personal sphere of influence:
- The doctoral thesis should be completed and submitted at the end of this employment. At the time of the application, approximately half of the doctoral thesis should be finalised.

Your personal sphere of influence:
As a PhD student, you will, become a core member of the STRENGTH platform and the Environmental Psychology Group at the University of Vienna. This currently includes one full professor, one tenure-track professor, three postdoctoral researchers, six PhD students, an organisational assistant and four student / research assistants.

Your personal sphere of influence:
- Your research will be focused on the nanospectroscopic analysis of 1D and 2D materials made from carbon or transition metal dichalcogenides.
- You will conduct independent experimental research related to synthesis and spectroscopy, with the freedom to apply your creativity and previous knowledge.
- You will present your research plan to the faculty and complete a dissertation agreement within 12-18 months. This will be reviewed and adapted on an annual basis.
- You will work on your dissertation and towards its completion in time, supported by dedicated mentorship. We expect a large degree of independence paired with a high level of team spirit.
- You will continuously stay informed about the state of the art in your field.
- You will contribute to teaching (lab courses, exercise classes), both in teams and independently, within the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You will engage with the broader scientific community as well as contribute to outreach through publications, conference presentations, collaborative events and public activities.
- You will help the group with minor administrative tasks, contributing to the success of the group for research, teaching and outreach.

Your personal sphere of play:
- You will work on an experimental PhD project in the field of neurodegeneration, cellular neurotoxicity, and glial stress responses
- You will plan and conduct in vitro experiments with primary cells of the central nervous system, especially neurons and glial cells
- You will investigate the effects of toxic stimuli on cell viability, cell death, and cellular stress and inflammatory responses
- You will apply established cell biological, molecular biological, and microscopic methods and evaluate them quantitatively
- You will work with models of the blood-brain barrier to analyze barrier function and transport processes
- We expect the dissertation agreement to be completed within 12-18 months
- You will work continuously on your dissertation and its timely completion
- You will hold courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement
- You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching

Overview of the general conditions
- Participation in research, teaching, and administration in our team
- Independent teaching in Social Psychology and Consumer Psychology (on average 2 hours per semester)

- Be actively involved in research projects and scientific studies at the Institute of International Business, especially in the areas of network embeddedness, family firms, and internationalization processes.
- Apply and further develop qualitative research methods (e.g., interviews, case studies, archival research) in the design, execution, and dissemination of international business research.
- Actively collaborate in the research activities of the institute and contribute to the further development of its research agenda under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Maria Emmanouela Plakogiannaki, PhD.
- Participate in the acquisition, implementation, and dissemination of third-party funded research projects, including the preparation of competitive research grant applications.
- Develop an independent academic profile and engage in international scholarly networks, conferences, and workshops.
- Contribute to teaching in international business–related courses at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, including course preparation, delivery, assessment, and student supervision.
- Supervise bachelor’s and master’s theses and support doctoral researchers in the area of international business.
- Participate in organizational and administrative tasks related to research, teaching, and academic self-governance of the Department and Faculty.
