The Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Vienna, is offering a full-time position for a Chemical Laboratory Technician. The candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and support the research of a young and dynamic team. The position is available as soon as possible and limited to one year, with the option of permanent employment. The salary is based on the collective agreement and the salary scale for general university staff, with relevant professional experience being taken into account.
Your future tasks:
You will be responsible for the majority of the analytical and spectroscopic equipment at our institute. This includes several analytical and preparative HPLCs, ICP-MS, UV/Vis spectrometers, FT-IR spectrometers, synthesis microwaves, lyophilizers, cyclic voltammetry, etc. After training on the various instruments, you will be responsible for creating appropriate SOPs, further training new employees, adhering to appropriate safety precautions, managing and procuring consumables, and performing and/or organizing maintenance and repair work to ensure our equipment is always reliably available. Furthermore, after appropriate training, your responsibilities will include sample preparation, conducting measurements, and documenting them, specifically on the ICP-MS instrument. This will also directly involve you in research at the institute.
This is part of your personality:
You have
- completed training as a chemical laboratory technician with relevant practical experience or have a degree from a technical college with relevant, subject-specific expertise.
- experience in handling analytical and spectroscopic equipment (e.g., HPLC, ICP-MS, UV/Vis, FT-IR, cyclic voltammetry, etc.).
- knowledge of safety guidelines
- You are accurate and independent in your work, have an analytical mind, and a high sense of responsibility.
- You enjoy working independently and in a structured manner, have technical understanding, are service-oriented, and enjoy finding solutions.
- You are a team player with strong social and communication skills.
- You have very good MS Office skills.
- You have excellent written and spoken English skills.
