About this position 

The position is part of the Division of Structural and Functional Botany within the Department of Botany and Biodiversity Research. The Department of Botany and Biodiversity Research is part of the faculty of Life Sciences with 10,000 students and a highly international team of > 1000 employees.

Research and teaching in our Division are rooted in organismal biology and we focus on questions of plant diversity - How have key structural features such as the angiosperm flower evolved? How is morphological diversity distributed among taxa? Why are certain morphologies common and have evolved repeatedly while others are rare? We address these and related questions across a broad range of taxa and apply state-of-the art techniques as well as novel theoretical approaches to answer them. Our research covers a wide range of topics, from the evolution of flowers, over pollination biology, to paleobotany and palynology.

We are currently offering a postdoctoral position for up to four years. This position is not funded by a third-party project and therefore allows the successful candidate to develop their own prorects within the scientific framework of our research group. Collaborating on and lending expertise to existing projects is also expected.
