Tenure-Track Professorship in Sociology with focus on Quantitative Social Science Research Methods



The position

The TT professorship is dedicated to research and teaching in the field of quantitative social research. The focus is on the innovative application and/or further development of complex methods and new approaches in quantitative empirical social research in sociology such as causal inference or machine learning or complex panel data analysis. We are seeking excellent applicants with an international research portfolio and network. The teaching portfolio includes courses in the areas of quantitative empirical methods and statistics for sociologists.

Empirical research is a focus area at the Department of Sociology of the University of Vienna, which is renowned for its extensive research and teaching activities on significant and timely social issues. The department integrates empirical analysis with sociological theory to address contemporary social challenges. Our four research areas are work, organisation, gender relations; family, generations, life course; migration, cities, social inequality; knowledge, culture, and visual worlds. The tenure-track position is to be located with quantitative research within these research fields and, thus, connected to at least one of the strategic research priorities at the faculty and beyond.
