Postdoc (f/m/x)

40-hour week, 01.07.2026 - 31.12.2026

A position is to be filled at the Institute for Medieval Research within the Cluster of Excellence “EurAsian Transformations” ( https://www.oeaw.ac.at/eurasian-transformations/home )  The position is limited to a duration of six months. Thematically, one of the following ten research areas is to be pursued independently, in close collaboration with the designated mentor. Visible research outcomes are expected in the form of at least one completed publication (e.g. a scholarly article or a book chapter).

1.       Orthodox Christianity as a Conduit for the Dissemination and Adaptation of Religious Texts across Linguistic Traditions (Claudia Rapp)

3.       Climate and Socio-Economic Change between the Global and the Local in the Longue Durée (Johannes Preiser-Kapeller)

4.       Empires and the Eurasian Steppe: Shifting Borderlands (Walter Pohl)

5.       The Emergence of New Strategies of Identification in the Christianisation of Europe (Walter Pohl)

6.       Dealing with Diversity in Late Antique and Early Medieval Europe (Walter Pohl)

7.       Resilient Identities and Distinctions in Eurasian Comparison (Walter Pohl)

8.       The Idea of Empire and the Slavs, 860-1989 (Pavlina Rychterova)

9.       Multilingualism and Cultural Translation in Central and Eastern Europe 1300-1700 (Pavlina Rychterova)

10.   The True Believer – Dynamics of Religious Identification in Central/Eastern Europe, 14th-18th century (Pavlina Rychterova)
