The Research Group for Applied Social Psychology and Consumer Research (Univ.-Prof. Dr. A. Florack) at the Department of Occupational, Economic, and Social Psychology is seeking a dedicated and flexible University Assistant (prae doc) interested in social psychology, digital transformation, and consumer research.
Information about the position
Our research group investigates how social and non-social environments shape individual experiences, behaviors, and beliefs. In particular, our objective is to contribute to a better understanding of how consumers respond to major societal challenges, including the current economic development, the demand for sustainable and healthy consumption, and digital transformation.
Overview of the general conditions
Candidates are expected to develop a dissertation in the main research areas of the research group. Experience in consumer psychology and/or social cognition is advantageous.
The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.
The gross monthly salary in salary group B 1 is EUR 3,776.10 (§48 VwGr. B1 basic level (praedoc)) on a full-time basis. The actual salary will be adjusted to the number of hours required for the position.
Your future tasks
- Participation in research, teaching, and administration in our team
- Independent teaching in Social Psychology and Consumer Psychology (on average 2 hours per semester)
- Writing a dissertation in one of the core research areas of the research group (completion of a dissertation agreement within 12-18 months is expected)
Admission requirements
- Master's degree or equivalent (Diploma) in psychology or a related discipline, completed by the contract start date
- Interest in developing a PhD thesis in one of the main research areas of the group
- Excellent master’s thesis
- Experience in empirical research (e.g., internships, experience as a student research assistant)
- Excellent knowledge of quantitative methods (including competencies in the application of SPSS or R)
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English
- Experience in programming experiments is of advantage
