Your personal sphere of play:
The Institute for Classical Philology, Medieval and Neo-Latin is dedicated to the study and teaching of the language and literature of ancient Greece and Rome, including Late Antiquity, as well as the late, medieval, and Neo-Latin language and literature.
At the core of the program is a thorough education in Greek and Latin that enables critical evaluation of historical texts, along with the interpretation of literary works from European antiquity that have significantly influenced world culture and continue to do so. Accordingly, in addition to researching antiquity itself, the institute places special emphasis on the study of its reception and impact throughout history, as well as on interdisciplinary questions.
The Institute for Classical Philology, Medieval and Neo-Latin is part of the Faculty of Philology and Cultural Studies. We value a diversity of disciplines, international orientation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and collegial exchange.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching, and administration, which means:

You develop an independent research profile in the field of Latin Studies (focus on Classical Latin).

You contribute to research projects and academic studies.

You publish internationally and give academic presentations.

You apply for third-party funded projects.

You prepare and complete a publishable postdoctoral thesis (Habilitation).

You independently conduct courses and administer examinations in accordance with the collective agreement regulations.

You take part in evaluation measures and quality assurance.

You take on administrative responsibilities in research and teaching.
This is part of your personality:

Completed doctoral/PhD studies in the field of Classical Philology / Latin Studies
-
Excellent command of Latin and Ancient Greek
-
A specialization in ancient epic or ancient drama is desirable; interest in literary theory, narratology, and reception history is also welcomed

Demonstrated research competence and independent research initiative through international publications
-
Teaching skills, ideally including experience with e-learning
-
Very good knowledge of German, good knowledge of English
-
Team player with strong social and communication skills
