Tenure-Track Professorship in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy – Diversity and Health



The position

Physical education and sport pedagogy studies the support of educational processes with the help of physical activity, play and sport. Research interests range from elementary education to adult education and education in late adulthood, with a particular focus on health promotion and a constructive approach to social, cultural and gender-related heterogeneity. A particular focus is on physical education and sports lessons organized in schools. We welcome applications from outstanding candidates who concentrate on physical education and sports pedagogy within the domain of school sports in particular on aspects of health promotion and diversity. The work- and research-related profile should be compatible with the research focus of the Centre for Sport Science and University Sports and the Centre for Teacher Education. International networking capabilities must be clearly demonstrated.

The tenure-track position is embedded in the area of Sport Pedagogy and Physical Education Didactics at the Department of Sport and Human Movement Science, University of Vienna. A thematic alignment with one or both of the department’s research areas – Lifelong Health Promotion and Education or Human Performance – is desirable. Extensive collaboration opportunities within the department and across faculties – for example, with the Centre for Teacher Education, or the Doctoral School in Education and the Vienna Doctoral School of Pharmaceutical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences – offer a vibrant environment for interdisciplinary research.
