Your workplace:
Your future workplace will be at the Department for Slavonic Studies, which is one of the world's largest research and teaching institutions for Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. At the Department, the East, South and West Slavic languages and literatures are represented in teaching and research in a unique breadth (Full Slavonic Studies).
The vacant position in the field of South Slavic linguistics (especially Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian) includes a teaching obligation of seven semester hours per week. The ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as your own active research activities are expected. In addition, the assumption of administrative activities, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the task.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means:
- As a Senior Lecturer, you will be responsible for academic teaching in the Bachelor and Master degree Programmes of Slavonic Studies for an average of seven semester hours per week. You will independently teach courses in the field of South Slavic linguistics with a focus on Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (possibly also on Burgenland Croatian).
- You will take on administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching.
- We also expect you to keep up to date with the current state of science and to continue your didactic training during the lecture-free period.
What we expect:
We are looking for people who see university teaching as an interesting and challenging career field. Requirements for application are:
- Completed doctoral studies in Slavic Studies (with a focus on linguistics) or a comparable degree
- Several years of independent teaching at a post-secondary educational institution in the field of Slavic philology (with special emphasis on Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian or South Slavic studies)
- Excellent knowledge of German and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian as well as knowledge of other (South) Slavic languages
- Didactic skills / experience in e-learning
- Research and publication experience
- Knowledge of Burgenland-Croatian and its scientific research is desirable
- You are a team player with a high level of social/communicative competence.
