Your future position is located at the Institute for Geography and Regional Research (IfGR), which is part of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography, and Astronomy. As a university assistant pre-doc, you will complement the research team focusing on spatial planning, especially planning theories. You will represent this research area in teaching and research, and you will be able to set your own focus regarding your planned dissertation. The working group for spatial research and spatial planning is currently in the process of development and consists of Uni.-Prof. Dr. Meike Levin-Keitel and, in the future, additional postdoc and pre-doc positions, as well as administrative colleagues.

The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

  • We expect you to complete your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
  • You will work on your dissertation and its completion.
  • You will independently conduct teaching activities within the scope of the collective agreement regulations.

  • Didactic skills and teaching experience are advantageous.
  • Desirable knowledge in international discourses of spatial planning as well as fundamentals of planning in the German-speaking region. Knowledge of planning theoretical approaches and debates, along with in-depth understanding of a planning-related subfield (such as transformative planning, regional green structures, affordable housing, or similar, acquired, for example, through the master's thesis).
  • Excellent proficiency in both English and German (C1 level).
  • You are a team player with high social and communicative competence.
