Your personal sphere of influence:
As a Predoctoral University Assistant you will be part of the research team of Univ.-Prof. Tarja Knuuttila. The main research areas associated with this professorship are general philosophy of science, with focus on scientific modeling, interdisciplinarity and philosophy of engineering.
Your duties will include active participation in research, teaching and administration at the Department of Philosophy in the research area of computational philosophy of science and philosophy of computing. The main focus of the position is on the completion of a dissertation ready for publication within this area of expertise.
The duration of the employment contract is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years, if the employer does not submit a declaration of non-renewal within the first 12 months.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching and administration:
- You participate in research projects, conferences, research organization tasks and teaching.
- You work on your dissertation, completing it within 3 years.
- We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching as well as in the department.
- You supervise students and help with conducting examinations.
- You contribute to the organization and content of conferences, publications and scientific projects.
Your academic profile:
- Completed master's degree, in the field of philosophy of science
- Thorough knowledge of and experience in computing
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- IT and e-learning skills
The following are desirable:
- Organizational and editing skills are a significant advantage
- Teaching experience / experience with e-learning
- Knowledge of university procedures and structures
- Experience in scientific work, and working as a part of a scientific team
- Excellent German language skills
