Your personal sphere of influence:

At the Institute for Philosophy of Law, a praedoc position (30h/week), assigned to Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alexander Somek, is being advertised. The position is to be filled with 2024 09 16.
The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

As a university assistant prae doc, you will complete the research team around Univ. Prof. Dr. Alexander Somek. You actively participate in research, teaching & administration. The focus of our research is Legal Philosophy.
 

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • Participation in research projects and scientific studies
  • Participation in publications / scientific articles / lectures
  • Participation in and independent teaching of courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Student support
  • Participation in the organization of meetings, conferences and symposia
  • Participation in administration of the team, teaching, and research
  • Completion of your dissertation agreement within 12-18 month is expected.
  • Own scientific activities (especially the writing of a dissertation) are encouraged and supported.

This is part of your personality:

  • Completed master's/diploma studies in Law or equivalent foreign degree or Master/diploma studies in Philosophy
  • Above-average academic achievement, especially in the fields of Public law (if diploma in Law)
  • Interest in and aptitude for independent academic work in areas such as Philosophy of law, Legal theory, Ethics, International law, European law, Comparative constitutional and Administrative law
  • Basic experience in academic writing and with research methods
  • Very good computer skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken German
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level)
  • You are a team player
  • Good organisational skills

Ideally you have:

  • Stay abroad
  • Experience in teaching
  • Knowledge of university procedures
  • futhermore good command of a second foreign language, spoken and written
  • Completion of basket of Philosophy of Law
  • Didactic competences / experience in e-learning
