The Department at the University of Vienna is the largest academic center covering all fields relating to the German language and German-language literatures. The core areas are Modern German Literature, Medieval German Language and Literature, Germanic Linguistic, German as a Foreign and Second Language, and German Teaching Methodology. In addition, the areas of Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, Media Theory, Literary Theory, and Literature for Children and Young Adults are well established. More than 5000 students are enrolled.
Your personal sphere of influence:
As a University Assistant Praedoc you will be involved in research projects in the field of Early German Language and Literature. This particularly in the areas of the late Middle Ages, early book printing, and possible collaboration with the SFB “Managing Maximilian”.
The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the field of Early German Language and Literature.
- We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You work on your dissertation in the area of Early German Language and Literature and its completion.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed Master's degree or Diploma, in the field of Early German Language and Literature
- Dissertation project in the field of Early German Language and Literature
- Experience in working with medieval manuscripts
- Didactic competences / experience with e-learning
- You should be a team player with high social skills
