Your personal workspace:

The Department of Functional Materials and Catalysis at the University of Vienna's Faculty of Chemistry is seeking to fill a four-year, fixed-term Prae Doc doctoral position. The working group primarily focuses on the structure and thermodynamics of inorganic material systems. The planned research topic is the synthesis and characterization of active electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries. This research will take place in an interdisciplinary and international setting. Therefore, this position requires a high degree of commitment and excellent communication skills. The research task combines materials chemistry synthesis methods, thermoanalytical measurements, and structural characterization.

You have prior knowledge of materials chemistry in relation to solid-state chemistry, experimental thermoanalysis, microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. Additionally, you have a basic understanding of university processes and structures. Ideally, you have participated in scientific work and gained experience.

Your future tasks:

The successful candidate continues our research work on active electrode materials for Li-ion batteries, focusing in particular on next-generation cathode materials such as LNMO. This work involves thermodynamic and structural investigations aimed at understanding phase relationships as a function of composition and temperature.

Duration of contract: The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
