The advertised position is allocated to the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Vienna which comprises, besides the Dean’s office and the Study Service Center, four Departments. The Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology has a predoctoral position available from 15 November 2025 to 14 October 2029 (later start date also possible, contract term 4 years from contract start date). The position is allocated to the field of Psychological Education and Transfer Research (Head: Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Psych. Dr. Barbara Schober). We are looking for an employee with a degree in psychology (Master's) and an interest in pursuing a doctorate in the field of empirical educational psychology with a focus on motivation, well-being and learning at school or gender and diversity in educational contexts. Applicants should be able to work well in a team and have good social skills.
Your personal sphere of influence:
As a university assistant prae doc, you will complement the research team and take on the following tasks, for example:
- Scientific research and teaching.
- Presentation of research results at national and international conferences.
- Publication of research results in international scientific journals.
- Collaboration in the acquisition of new research projects.
- Participation in faculty and department administration.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You will participate in research projects/scientific studies.
- You will work on key topics in the field of educational psychology.
- You will contribute to publications/scientific articles/lectures and work on your doctorate in psychology.
- You will teach courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement.
- You will supervise students.
- You participate in the doctoral school VDS CoBeNe.
This is part of your personality:
- Master's degree or diploma in psychology or a related subject.
- Strong interest in research in the field of educational psychology.
- Good knowledge of statistical analysis and conducting psychological scientific studies (experimental studies or questionnaire studies)
- Ability to present and work on research questions in a structured manner.
- Ability to work in a team.
- High level of commitment and initiative.
- Very good written and spoken English skills.
Nice to have:
- Teaching experience / experience with e-learning.
- Knowledge of university processes and structures.
- Initial experience in academic work (e.g. previous academic studies, collaboration on publications).
- Experience with statistical programmes.
