Your personal sphere of influence:
The group Intracellular Drug Delivery (Ass. Prof. Dr. U. Lächelt) at the Division of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics is working on carrier systems for the transport of therapeutics across cellular barriers. The main field of research is the application of therapeutic biomolecules. Nucleic acids and genome-editing components enable precise interference with cellular processes, which can be utilized for the treatment of diseases. Unfortunately, biomolecules generally do not reach intracellular sites of action efficiently and therefore require suitable delivery systems for the transport across cellular barriers.
We are looking for an applicant for a PhD position with solid knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry and biochemistry as well as enthusiasm for reserarch activities in the field of nanobiotechnology.
The responsibilities of the future PhD student include synthesis of novel carrier materials for biomolecules, production and characterization of nanoformulations, as well as their evaluation in biological systems. In addition to research activities, participation in teaching and involvement in courses are expected.
The contract duration is 4 years, initially limited to 1,5 years.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research and teaching and assist with administrative tasks, which means:
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies.

- We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed Master's degree or Diploma in Pharmacy, Biochemistry or related disciplines and interest in pursuing a dissertation in the field of Pharmaceutical Technology.
- Initial experience in scientific work, cell culture techniques as well as production and characterization of drug delivery systems.
- Experience with peptide synthesis and conjugation is advantageous.
- Didactic skills/experience in e-learning.
- IT skills (e.g., MS Office).
- Very good English skills in both spoken and written form.
- Good German skills in both spoken and written form are advantageous.
- You are a team player with strong social and communication skills.
