 About the team:
 The Faculty of Computer Science of the University of Vienna has world-leading researchers in Computer Science who pursue basic as well as applied research. The UniVie Doctoral School Computer Science (DoCS) builds an essential framework to foster excellence in research and teaching. Its main focus is on young prospective researchers eager to make an impact on both basic research as well as applied problems with collaborations across the University and beyond. The DoCS aims to provide these young researchers with the broad knowledge and expertise needed to perform Computer Science research at the highest achievable quality. The Doctoral School trains doctoral candidates in solving basic as well as applied research questions of high relevance.
 Your future position is in the Research Group Software Architecture led by Uwe Zdun at the Faculty of Computer Science. The research focus of our group is on software architecture, software design and software engineering. Our team currently consists of 10 scientific as well as 2 administrative colleagues. We put special emphasis on a relaxed and cooperative working environment. Social interactions help facilitate active scientific exchange and foster a good atmosphere, and therefore play a big role in our team.

 Your future tasks:
 You actively participate in research, teaching and administration, which means:
  - You develop software engineering methods and tools with a specific focus on 
 - Software Architecture and Design,
  - LLMs for Software Engineering or Security Engineering,
  - Agentic AI in Software Development Context,
  - API Design and Engineering,
  - Design and Architecture of Microservice Design,
  - Software Engineering for Machine Learning,
  - Code Analysis/Generation for Machine Learning and MLOps, and
  - Continuous Delivery and/or MLOps.
  
   - You participate in research projects and studies.
  - You hold university courses as defined by the collective bargaining agreement. Here, you supervise your students in courses about software architecture, software design, distributed systems engineering and software engineering.
  - We expect you to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
  - You publish internationally and give presentations.
  - You are involved in organizing meetings, conferences and symposia.
  
These are your qualifications:
 Must-haves:
  - You have completed a Master’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a closely related field, whereby knowledge of computer science is assumed to be a given.
  - You have established experience in one or multiple software architecture areas such as 
 - Software Architecture and Design,
  - LLMs for Software Engineering or Security Engineering,
  - Agentic AI in Software Development Context,
  - API Design and Engineering,
  - Design and Architecture of Microservice Design,
  - Software Engineering for Machine Learning,
  - Code Analysis/Generation for Machine Learning and MLOps, and
  - Continuous Delivery and/or MLOps.
  
   - You know basic research methods and have experience in academic writing.
  - You bring didactic know-how and experience in e-learning.
  - You have excellent command of written and spoken English (at least C1 Level). (The team communicates mainly in English!)
  
 Desirable skills:
  - You possess very good German language skills (B2).
  - You are a team player with high social and good communicative skills.
  - You are reliable and can work autonomously.
  - You have knowledge of university processes and structures.
  - You have experience abroad.
