Your personal sphere of influence:

As a University Assistant Praedoc you will be part of the research team of the professorship of Ethics with Special Emphasis on Applied Ethics of Prof. Dr. Angela Kallhoff. The main research areas associated with this professorship are: Systematics and history of ethics, fundamental questions of practical philosophy, political philosophy, ethics of war and peace and applied ethics with a focus on nature and climate ethics.

Your duties will include active participation in research, teaching and administration at the Department of Philosophy in the research area of Practical Philosophy. The main focus of the position is on the completion of a dissertation ready for publication in the range of topics of the research area or research focus.

The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

• You are involved in research projects, conferences, research organization tasks and teaching.
• You work on your dissertation and its completion.
• We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
• You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
• You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching as well as in the department.
• You supervise students and help with conducting examinations.
• You contribute to the organization and content of conferences, publications and scientific projects.

This is part of your personality:

• Completed Master's degree or Diploma, in the field of philosophy
• Outstanding achievements during your studies
• Thorough knowledge of practical philosophy, ethics and/or applied ethics
• High level of written and oral communication skills
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• IT skills, especially in the area of word processing, PowerPoint, study administration programs and e-learning programs
• Organizational and teamwork skills
• First practical experience in scientific writing and research organization

The following are desirable:

• Teaching experience / experience with e-learning
• Knowledge of university procedures and structures
• Experience abroad
• Initial experience in scientific work
• Willingness to acquire German language skills within 3 years that are sufficient for teaching in Bachelor's and Master's programs and for participation in university committees
