With 27 subjects, one specialization, and over 12,000 students enrolled in teacher education programmes, the University of Vienna is Austria's biggest teacher education institution. The Centre for Teacher Education is the organizational focal point for all questions regarding the teacher education programme at the University of Vienna. In cooperation with the other faculties and centres as well as the partner organizations of the 'Verbund Nord-Ost', it aims to strengthen and further develop the quality of research and teaching in the field of teacher education. 

Your personal sphere of play:

The advertised position is located in the field of Developmental and Educational Psychology with Particular Emphasis on Motivation and Emotion. As a university assistant postdoc, you will complement the research team around Prof. Marko Lüftenegger (https://lehrerinnenbildung.univie.ac.at/arbeitsbereiche/entwicklungspsychologie-und-bildungspsychologie-des-schulalters/). The contract is limited to 6 years.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

The successful candidate is expected to have:


•    Doctoral degree/PhD degree in the field of (Educational) Psychology or similar
•    Professional competence in the fields of motivation and emotions in education
•    Research competence and initiative proven through international publications in renowned journals (peer-reviewed, English)
•    International presentation experience
•    Experience in project work (national/international projects); Experience in applying for funding
•    Experience in research management and leading project team members
•    Methodological expertise in empirical educational research & statistics (quantitative research methods and advanced proficiency in statistical software such as Mplus, R, etc.)
•    Teaching experience/experience in e-learning
•    Experience in student supervision
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills in German and English
•    Proficiency in standard office software applications
•    Familiarity with university processes and structures
•    Team player and high social/communicative skills
