Your personal sphere of play:
Your future position will be at the Department of European, International and Comparative Law at the University of Vienna in the team of Prof. Dr. Matthias Lehmann, D.E.A. (Paris II), LL.M., J.S.D. (Columbia). We conduct excellent research and teaching in the entire field private law, private international law and comparative law.
Your future tasks:
You will actively participate in research and teaching in the team and contribute to the visibility and profile building of the team in academia and the public, in particular through the following tasks and activities:
- You will contribute to and deepen an independent research profile in the field of private law and financial markets law.
- You will work on projects and studies in the research areas of the team.
- You will publish nationally and internationally and give lectures, in particular on the above-mentioned areas of specialisation.
- You will aim for a habilitation in private law and pursue a habilitation topic in the sense of the above-mentioned focal points and prepare a habilitation thesis ready for publication.
- You will teach courses independently in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement. You will supervise students.
- You will independently moderate planned academic events (conferences or smaller formats) and contribute to the organization of events as part of a team. You are prepared to support the team by participating in administrative activities on a case-by-case basis.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in the field of law.
- Outstanding dissertation in the field of financial markets or securities law (preferably written in English).
- Proven research expertise in EU financial markets law, with a clear focus on Austrian and European developments. Relevant publications addressing innovative financial products and services are desirable.
- Prior experience at a university or research facility – particularly with teaching experience – would be advantageous, as is experience in legal practice. A strong international network in European financial markets law is also considered a relevant criterion.
- Excellent knowledge of German and very good knowledge of English (C1).
- Team player with good social/communication skills.
