The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Julien Orts' research group, is seeking to fill a postdoctoral position in Biophysical Chemistry/NMR Spectroscopy starting in January 2026. The position is currently limited to three years with the option of extension. https://bionmr.univie.ac.at/people/
Working Environment
- The NMR facility at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences includes: 700 MHz, two 500 MHz, equipped with cryoprobes and SampleJet, open access 400 MHz & 200 MHz spectrometers.

Your future tasks:
This position is particularly well suited for a postdoctoral researcher who wishes to strengthen their academic trajectory and will be encouraged to develop an independent research direction within the broad interests of the group. Possible areas include:
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research in biophysical chemistry using NMR spectroscopy
- Develop and expand your own scientific profile through independent projects
- Supervise students, contribute to teaching and associated administrative activities
- Be encouraged to establish an independent research direction within the group’s broad interests
Research Topics (not exhaustive)
Possible research areas include (but are not limited to):
- AI and integrated structural biology
- Drug discovery (e.g., RNA-targeted)
- Methodology development for drug design using NMR
- Biologics or nanobody discovery
- Metabolomics
This is part of your personality:
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a Ph.D. in natural sciences, computational sciences, or a related discipline
- Has experience in biomolecular solution NMR spectroscopy or computational sciences
- Is highly motivated, creative, and scientifically curious
- Possesses excellent communication skills and enjoys collaborative work
- Is eligible for funding (e.g., Marie Curie or FWF ESPRIT postdoctoral grants)
