At the Institute of Information Systems Engineering, in the Research Unit of Software Engineering of the Faculty of Informatics TU Wien is offering a position as Senior Scientist (all genders) for the specialist field of “Software and Systems Engineering” for 32 hours/week. Expected start: January 2026

Software-intensive systems are key in the modern world. It is, therefore, critical that we investigate principles and techniques that facilitate the design, development, analysis, effectiveness, automation, maintenance, and understandability of such systems. Today, software is part of any relevant system, and thus, the interplay of software engineering and systems engineering becomes a must. Software and Systems Engineering covers the whole life cycle of software-intensive systems.

Tasks:

The faculty seeks to hire a candidate with a strong research and teaching record in constructive aspects of Software and Systems Engineering. Desired areas of research and expertise may include but are not limited to: 

 

 

Besides research, the duties of a Senior Scientist at TU Wien include undergraduate and graduate teaching (in German and English) as well as faculty service tasks.

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 3,946.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 32 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
