The Faculty of Psychology at the University of Vienna comprises, besides the Dean’s office and the StudyServiceCenter, four Departments.
We seek to fill a position for a Senior Scientist and lab manager in the Health Psychology Group (directed by Professor Laura M. König) at the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology. Together with the research group, you will study psychological, social, and environmental determinants of health behaviors. Additional research interests of the team include:
- Development and evaluation of health behavior interventions, including interventions focusing on the physical environment and digital interventions
- Impact of study participation on the experience and behaviour of study probands (research participation effects)
- Social inequality in digital health interventions (Digital Divide)
- Women’s health
- Science communication
The group actively engages in and promotes open science practices (e.g., preregistration, sharing of materials and data) and science communication, and values diverse perspectives.
Your future tasks:
You manage the Ecological Momentary Assessment laboratory (EMA lab; https://psychologie.univie.ac.at/en/research/labs/ema-lab/) at the department and actively participate in research and teaching. In this role:
- You contribute to research projects / studies in the field of digital assessment of health behaviors and associated psychological constructs.
- You manage the EMA lab, including devices and software.
- You analyze data from Ecological Momentary Assessment studies.
- You contribute to manuscripts for international peer-reviewed journals
- You contribute to grant applications and the acquisition of third-party funding.
- You present at national and international conferences and meetings.
- You contribute to science communication activities.
- You teach courses independently as defined by the collective agreement.
- You participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance.
- You supervise students.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed PhD in psychology, behavioral science, human-computer interaction, public health, or a related field.
- Quantitative research skills, including data analysis with SPSS, R, JASP, jamovi or similar software.
- Experience in planning and conducting Ecological Momentary Assessment studies.
- Interest in orienting towards open science principles.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Accurate, self-reliant working.
- Leadership and management competencies.
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
- High sense of responsibility.
Desirable qualifications are:
- Ability to analyze complex longitudinal data, e.g. using multilevel regression analysis.
- Experience in using survey software (e.g. SoSci Survey).
- Excellent command of written and spoken German.
- Publications in renowned, subject-relevant journals (peer-reviewed).
- Teaching experience
- Experience in student supervision (Bachelor/ Master’s theses).
- Experience in presenting at international or national conferences.
- Experience in working in interdisciplinary and/ or intersectoral teams.

Fixed-term contract and fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 4,932.90 (full time, 14 times a year for senior scientists postdoctoral) will be increased, if we can credit professional experience. The position is limited to a duration of 4 years and 3 months. A permanent extension of the position is intended and will be announced in a timely manner. Additionally, efforts will be made to secure additional working hours through third-party funding.
