Your workplace:
The Working Group Basic Experimental Physics Training and University Didactics is part of the Faculty of Physics and focuses on basic experimental physics training as well as research into the teaching and learning of physics. The group is seeking a Senior Lecturer (Academic Teaching) to take on the independent design, organisation and leadership of laboratory courses, as well as a key experimental physics course that prepares students for laboratory work in degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Physics.
Your future tasks:
As a Senior Lecturer, your primary responsibilities will include the academic and didactic leadership of laboratory courses in the Bachelor's programme in Teaching Education (Physics) and independent teaching in the core experimental physics course "Introduction to Experimental Work (EEA)" in the Bachelor's programme in Physics. Your tasks will include:
- Designing, organising and delivering courses, primarily at the Bachelor's level.
- Leading and organising the teaching teams for laboratory courses.
- Developing experiments and learning materials for the preparation and follow-up of courses to meet modern scientific and didactic standards.
- Advancing teaching and assessment formats, particularly in the use of AI-supported methods for creating laboratory reports as a key component of learning scientific writing.
- Implementing computer-based experimental techniques.
- Training student assistants and tutors.
- Keeping up to date with the latest scientific developments, engaging in ongoing didactic training and taking on research tasks.
- Participating in the Faculty's outreach activities for school students is encouraged.
- Contributing to administrative and coordination tasks related to teaching in experimental basic education.
What we expect:
We are looking for people who see university teaching as an interesting and challenging career field. Requirements for application are:
- Completed PhD studies, in the field Physics
- Several years of independent teaching at a post-secondary educational institution (ideally in an introductory physics laboratory course).
- Didactic competencies.
- Experience with digital teaching and e-learning platforms such as Moodle and u:stream.
- Excellent command of written and spoken German (C1 Level) and English (C1 Level).
- You should be a team player with high social and communication skills.
