The Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics (RICAM) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution in Applied Mathematics, focuses on basic research in applied mathematics, and within the Institute mathematicians from all around the globe collaborate on common core areas in mathematical modeling, simulation, inverse problems and optimization. POSTDOC POSITION (F*M)
in the Inverse Problems and Mathematical Imaging Group
(full-time, 40h per week)
for an initial period of one year, starting on October 01st, 2023 (or later).
The full-time position is affiliated with the "Inverse Problems and Mathematical Imaging" Group (led by Professor Otmar Scherzer) at RICAM, located in Linz/Austria.
The hired person will work on regularization methods for nonlinear ill-posed problems.
Your tasks:
- Cooperation in the development of new projects in Southeast Europe and/or West Asia
- Participation in ongoing and future projects and field work of the research group »Prehistoric Phenomena«
- Assistance in leading the research group and its organization
- Preparation and organization of research group meetings
- Quality control and quality assurance of the research group’s data pool
- Maintenance of digital bibliographies, publication repositories, and long-term data archiving/repositories
- Editorial assistance of research group related publications
- Scientific assistance of the research group leader
- Furthermore, it would be beneficial if the candidate has supervised students, coordinated teams, as well as demonstrated a clear input in field work.
Your profile:
- Doctorate in Applied Mathematics or a closely related field is required.
- Strong background in Inverse Problems.
- Expert knowledge in either one of the following topics Mathematical Modeling of Imaging Systems, Mathematical Tomography, Regularization Theory, Iterative Algorithms or Optimization is preferential.
- English skills needed.
