Are you passionate about developing and applying cutting-edge AI-assisted proteomic data analysis to tackle relevant health challenges? Then come and join our lab (headed by Prof. Manuela Schmidt) at the Division of Pharmacology and Toxicology and at the newly established University Vienna – Bruker Center of Excellence for Metaproteomics (headed by Dr. David Gomez-Varela), University of Vienna, Austria.

Your working place:

Your future workplace is situated at the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University Center Althanstraße (UZA II), where research groups work in the pharmaceutical sciences, nutritional sciences and biology. Our translational research focuses on the molecular underpinnings of chronic pain and the dynamics of host-microbiome interactions in health and disease. Methodologically, we combine molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, preclinical mouse models and the latest (meta)proteomics techniques. Our research lives from our fruitful collaborations with basic researchers, bioinformaticians and clinicians facilitating forward and reverse translation of our research results. Importantly, our research highly benefits from innovative methodological expertise and collaboration with the University Vienna – Bruker Center of Excellence for Metaproteomics.

The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Yourprofile

The position holder will work on employing bioinformatics to elucidate the dynamics of the (meta)proteome in preclinical mouse models and in clinical projects. Candidates need expert knowledge in bioinformatic data analysis. Strong expertise in multi-omics data analysis (using R and Python) and a deep understanding of machine-learning models are must-criteria for this position.

Candidates having pharmaceutical industry experience and expertise in translational research or biomarker discovery will be given preference. Above all, we seek a skilled and dedicated person, who enjoys science and shares our passion for research!
