The Service Unit of Responsible Research Practices TU Wien focuses on research ethics, research integrity, and societal responsibility. As part of its services, the Unit coordinates the TU Wien Research Ethics Committee and provides consulting, training, and teaching to members of the university community. In addition, the Unit develops innovative methods for research ethics review and participates in the national and international discourse on ethics, integrity, and responsibility. To strengthen our team, the Service Unit of Responsible Research Practices is offering a position as Expert (all genders) in research ethics until 31.12.2027 with the option of permanent employment for 40 hours/week. Expected start: December 2025.
Tasks:
- Proactive collaboration in the integration and development of concepts for implementing of AI/ML in research into the ethics review process and the services provided by the Unit of Responsible Research Practices
- Continuous development and ensuring the quality of the research ethics review process, workflows and follow-up of the TU Wien Research Ethics Committee
- Independent consulting and training in the field of research ethics and integrity
- Development of policy documents, shaping structures, and creating training activities for research ethics and integrity for different audiences in the TU Wien
- Conceptualization and creating materials to be used for research ethics and integrity capacity building, consulting, training and raising awareness
- Consulting with the Head of Unit for Research Ethics and Integrity in formulating policy and concepts
- Active participation in identifying and addressing new emerging topic areas in research ethics and research integrity / responsible research
- Documenting and communicating the activities of the Research Ethics Committee and the Service Unit
- Participation in the Unit’s projects and support in organization of its events
Your profile:
- Academic degree (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant discipline (for example, philosophy, social sciences…), and several years of professional experience in addressing topics of research ethics and/or research integrity in one’s work or academic context
- Excellent command of English and German in both speech and writing; overall excellent communication skills
- Interest in developing concepts, formats, and strategies for research ethics review, research integrity, and societal responsibility in the university ecosystem
- Affinity for research and academic work; understanding the scientific work of researchers. Previous publication activity, experience in teaching and/or training in the academic environment are of advantage
- Service and support-orientation, enthusiasm for research ethics as an evolving area of research and expertise
- Good command of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel), willingness to learn to use other software
- Willingness to occasionally travel

Entry level salary is determined by the level IVA of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 3,390.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
